This painting really frustrated and annoyed me while I was painting it because I couldn't get anything to go the way that I wanted it to... you have those days. The colours were terrible in the beginning, but I'm not a big fan of greens and blues anyway so there's no surprise that I hated using them... for some reason I thought it was a good idea at the time. When I look at it now all I can see is layers... the different stages of wrestling with every little part of this painting that now stand out in my mind and make me cringe at the thought of doing it. Thankfully though, the end product is something I am happy with and in fact, it's better than I thought it would be after starting.
This painting makes me anxious - in a way that high-contrast mixed color temparature art sometimes makes me. That's a compliment - art should shake me up.
Not even to mention that secrets make me anxious unto themselves.

one of the great things about the feedback that i got for the exhibition that this piece was in was that it was all quite extreme - people either loved it or absolutely loathed it... sometimes I prefer the negative because it really gets into some people's heads!
