Artist's Comments

It's funny how you can never expect anything when you're creating art, in any form.

Coming up to the SALA 2006 exhibition, I had been to the venue a couple of times and kind of sorted out in my head what I could do with the space and how it could all fit together, but I needed something to fill in the middle of the largest wall where two landscape (in orientation only) paintings were being hung. After I realised that I had this long canvas sitting in my bedroom I quickly slapped some paint on and ended up with this piece.

Surprisingly enough, this was one of the pieces that people enjoyed the most at the launch party and it even sold on the first night!

You don't need to stress with art... sometimes it ends up surprising you with what it means to different people.

acrylic on canvas.

Great composition and blend of colors.

It's really striking - I can see why it sold. I hope it's not insulting to say that I could see this as CD cover art or on a T-shirt. It's a cool, forthright design.
:iconabatage:
insulting? not at all =)
thanks heaps for commenting!
:iconlaurazee:
So how can I get a t-shirt? :-)
:iconabatage:
haha, um.... if you're interested I could look into it - never done anything like that before though so I can't promise anything ;)
what size and all that do you want it?
where are you from? I could mail one to you!
email me if you like - abatage at g mail dot com
:iconlaurazee:
I'll e-mail you - but alas I'm sure it's not cost-effective to do just one!
:iconabatage:
we shall see... I may do more =)

I love how, despite how "messy" the style appears (and I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just for lack of a better word), the shapes are still bold and defined.

“That was a fluke! It almost never happens! There’s only a 1% chance of that happening.”
“In my experience, there’s 100% chance of that happening.”
